It's a lovely bright day in London and I'm devoting my afternoon to writing (I still suck at Dreamwidth - how do I Dreamwidth? But anyway...).

I have a few fics on the go, but I'm feeling like want to be a bit more fandom versatile. I have a bunch of unfinished Star Trek fics sitting in my WIPs folder, and a whole load of other pairings...but all I want to write is Steve/Bucky. Oh, the obsession of an all-consuming OTP.

Reading:

The Martian by Andy Weir
Just finished  this. Really enjoyed the film, and the book has that same gallows humour that makes it a really touching and human story about survival. It was pretty technically in places - it's obviously painstakingly researched - but I quite enjoyed knowing about how Mark Watney actually managed how to do all that stuff and save himself. The only thing I didn't care for was all the switches in narrative styles - fair enough, a switch from Mark's log entries to standard third person for the crew/NASA, but at one point there was an omniscient narrator thing going on and I found it jarring. Overall really good though.
Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters
Next, I'm going to return to Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody novels, which are, if anyone doesn't know, about this awesome female Egyptologist in the 1880s. The historical mysteries are fun, and the books have a great edge of humour which works really well. I'm starting the third novel in the series, The Mummy Case, so I may post something after about how I found it.

Tempted to give the mcuflashmeme challenge a go: this week's prompt is a three-sibling story, and it kind of plays into the idea I had about writing a story about the 3 Barnes sisters. So I should go write that maybe, and also finish that story about Sarah Rogers that's been half-finished for months.

Whee!
